Marlune Terms of Use

Last updated 26 August 2026. These terms take effect on the day Marlune becomes available on the App Store, and they are the custom License Agreement filed on the Marlune App Store listing.

Read the Privacy Policy

Last updated 26 August 2026.

Agreement

These Terms of Use are a binding agreement between you and Marlune ("Marlune", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the Marlune iPhone app, this website, and everything we provide through them. By downloading, installing, or using Marlune, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use Marlune.

This agreement is between you and Marlune only. It is not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for Marlune or its contents.

Who may use Marlune

You must be at least 18 years old to use Marlune. Marlune is written for adults in perimenopause and menopause and is not designed for, marketed to, or intended for children. If you are under 18, please do not create an account.

You may use Marlune only where the law allows it. By using Marlune you confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States government embargo, and that you are not listed on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Medical scope, and the limits of what Marlune can do

This is the most important clause in this document, so it is not buried at the end.

Marlune does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is a wellness and education service. It is not a medical device. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, the MHRA, or any other regulator. Marlune measures nothing itself. Where you connect Apple Health, it reads values your own devices have already recorded, it does not verify them, and it makes no accuracy claim about them or about anything derived from them.

Everything Marlune shows you, including insights, trends, doctor visit summaries, library articles, and anything Juno says, is information about your own logged days and general education. It is not a diagnosis, it is not proof of cause, and it must not be used to start, stop, or change any treatment or medication.

Marlune is not a substitute for professional medical care. Always consult your doctor or another qualified clinician about anything that concerns you, and never disregard or delay professional advice because of something you read in Marlune.

Marlune is not for emergencies. If this is an emergency, call 911, or your local emergency number if you are outside the United States, or go to your nearest emergency department. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988 in the United States to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

You are solely responsible for your own health decisions. You agree not to rely on Marlune as the basis for any medical decision.

Your account

You need an account to use Marlune, because your history has to survive a new phone. You agree to give accurate information when you sign up, to keep your sign in credentials secure, and to tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

One person, one account. Please do not share an account, and please do not create an account on someone else's behalf.

Licence we grant you

We grant you a personal, limited, non exclusive, non transferable, revocable licence to use Marlune on any Apple branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. This licence is for your own personal, non commercial use.

You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, resell, rent, sublicense, or create derivative works from Marlune, except to the extent the law expressly permits it despite this restriction. You may not use Marlune to build a competing product, and you may not scrape, bulk export, or systematically extract content from it, except that you may always export your own data using the export feature in the app.

Your content, and what we may do with it

Everything you log stays yours. Your check-ins, cycle dates, notes, treatment logs, Juno conversations, custom symptoms you create, and documents or photos you upload such as lab results belong to you. We do not claim ownership of them.

You grant us only the narrow licence we need to run the service for you: to store your content, to process it so Marlune can show you insights and Juno can answer you, and to transmit it to the processors described in the Privacy Policy below, purely so they can perform those functions on our behalf. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account. We never sell your health data, and we never use it for advertising.

Sharing a summary by link

Marlune lets you create a link that shows your doctor visit summary in a browser, so you can hand a phone or a screen to a clinician without printing anything. That link is yours to create and yours to stop.

Some things about it you should know before you make one. Anyone holding the link can open it, without signing in, because that is the point of it. It is a long random address that cannot be guessed, but it can be forwarded, screenshotted, or left in a message, and we cannot control what happens to it once you have sent it. It stops working automatically after 72 hours, and after 50 openings, whichever comes first. You can revoke it at any time from the app, which takes effect immediately. It shows a frozen copy of the summary as it was when you made it, so later check-ins do not appear in a link you already shared. It is deleted when you delete your account.

By creating one you are asking us to host and serve that copy for that period, which is the only permission it gives us.

Acceptable use

Please do not use Marlune to break the law, to harass anyone, to upload anything that infringes someone else's rights, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another person's account, to interfere with the service, or to submit another person's health information without their consent. We may suspend or close an account that does any of this.

Juno and AI generated content

Juno is an AI companion. Her replies are generated by an AI model, not written by a clinician, and they can be incomplete or wrong. Treat them as general supportive information and nothing more. Every conversation carries a reminder that Juno does not give medical advice, and that reminder is part of these terms, not decoration. Do not send Juno anything you would not want processed by an AI provider, and please do not ask her clinical questions expecting a clinical answer. No person reviews an answer before you see it.

Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Marlune+ is an auto renewing subscription sold only as an in-app purchase through the App Store. The full commercial terms, including price, period length, trial length, renewal timing and cancellation steps, are set out in the Subscription details on the pricing page, and they form part of this agreement.

In short: Marlune+ Yearly is $49.99 per year, charged once, which works out to $4.17 per month. Marlune+ Monthly is $9.99 per month. Both include a 30 day free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple Account is charged within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel at any time in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. If you buy a subscription while a free trial is still running, the unused part of that trial is forfeited.

We may change prices. If we do, the change applies only to periods beginning after we have given you notice, and never retroactively to a period you have already paid for.

Refunds

Purchases made through the App Store are billed by Apple, and Apple, not Marlune, handles all refunds. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue a refund for an App Store purchase ourselves, but if you write to us we will help you get to the right place. Where local consumer law gives you a statutory right of withdrawal or cancellation, that right applies in addition to this clause and is not limited by it.

Maintenance and support

Marlune, not Apple, is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish maintenance or support services. You can reach us at marluneappsupport@gmail.com and we reply within 2 business days.

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Marlune available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may add, change, or remove features. If we ever discontinue Marlune, we will give you notice in the app and by email, with time to export everything you have logged, and we will delete the remaining data rather than sell it or hand it on.

Termination

You can stop using Marlune at any time and delete your account from inside the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, in which case we will tell you why unless the law prevents us. Clauses 3, 6, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 25, 27, 28 and 29 survive termination.

Warranty and disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Marlune is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non infringement. We do not warrant that any insight, pattern, or answer is accurate, complete, or suitable for any medical purpose.

In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app. As between Apple and Marlune, any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are the sole responsibility of Marlune.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this clause may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Marlune is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising out of your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to Marlune is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $50.

Claims and legal compliance

Marlune, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, claims arising under consumer protection or privacy law, and any claim that the app infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. These terms may not limit Marlune's liability beyond what applicable law permits.

Apple as third party beneficiary

Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these terms, and upon your acceptance of them Apple will have the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce these terms against you as a third party beneficiary.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you in the app and by email before it takes effect, and we will update the date at the top of this document. Continuing to use Marlune after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, please delete your account.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, except where mandatory local consumer law in your country of residence gives you rights that cannot be overridden. Those rights apply in addition to these terms.

Questions about these terms go to marluneappsupport@gmail.com.

Dispute resolution, arbitration and class action waiver

Please read this clause carefully It changes how a disagreement between you and Marlune is decided. It sends most disputes to an arbitrator instead of a court, and it gives up the right to take part in a class action. You can opt out of it within 30 days, and it does not apply at all in places where the law does not allow it.

Talk to us first. Most problems are a misunderstanding, and email fixes them. Before either of us starts anything formal, the one starting it must first send the other a written description of the dispute and of what would settle it. Send yours to marluneappsupport@gmail.com. Please give us 60 days to work it out with you. We will do the same for you.

Binding individual arbitration. If 60 days pass and the dispute is still live, any dispute or claim arising out of or relating to Marlune or these terms will be resolved by binding arbitration, before a single arbitrator, rather than in court. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, which are published on its website. Arbitration is less formal than a lawsuit. The arbitrator can award the same individual remedies a court could, must follow these terms, and must give a written decision, which any court with jurisdiction can enforce. The AAA rules govern who pays which fee, and where those rules put a filing fee on you that is higher than a court fee would be, we will pay the difference. You may choose to have the arbitration held in the county where you live, or by telephone or video, or in the State of Delaware.

No class actions. Any proceeding under this clause is limited to your dispute with us and ours with you. Neither of us may bring a claim as a plaintiff or a class member in a class, collective, consolidated or representative action, and the arbitrator may not preside over one. If a court decides this paragraph cannot be enforced for a particular claim, then that claim, and only that claim, leaves arbitration and is decided by a court, under the governing law set out in clause 19. The rest of this clause still applies to everything else.

You can opt out, and it costs you nothing. You have 30 days from the day you first accept these terms to opt out of arbitration and of the class action waiver. Email marluneappsupport@gmail.com with the subject line "Arbitration opt out" and the email address on your account. Opting out changes nothing else about your account or these terms. If you opt out, a dispute goes to court instead, under the governing law set out in clause 19.

What stays out of arbitration. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies there. Either of us may ask a court for an injunction to stop the misuse of intellectual property or unauthorised access to the service. Nothing here stops you reporting a concern to a regulator or a consumer protection body.

Where this clause does not apply. If you live somewhere whose law does not allow a consumer to be bound to arbitration or to give up the right to bring or join a class action, this clause does not apply to you to that extent. That includes consumers in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, and anywhere else with mandatory consumer protection rules of that kind. In that case clause 19 governs, and you keep every right your local law gives you, including the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.

Indemnification

If something you do with Marlune causes a claim against us, this clause decides who carries it.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Marlune and the people who work on it against any third party claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost or reasonable legal fee arising out of your breach of these terms, your use of Marlune in a way these terms do not allow, content you upload that you had no right to upload, health information about another person that you submitted without that person's consent, or a summary link you created and then passed on.

That obligation is a narrow one. It does not cover a claim caused by our own act or omission, by a defect in Marlune, or by anything we got wrong. We will tell you promptly about any claim we ask you to cover, we will not settle it in a way that admits fault on your behalf without asking you first, and you may take part in the defence at your own cost. Nothing in this clause removes a right your local consumer law gives you that we are not allowed to exclude.

Copyright complaints

Marlune publishes very little. There is no public gallery, no profile page, no comment thread and no feed. Almost everything in the app is either written by us or logged by you and visible only to you. So a copyright complaint here will nearly always concern one of three things: material we wrote and published on this website or in the app's library, something someone saved into their own private account, such as a note or a value read from a document she imported, or the summary page behind a share link someone created. We say that plainly rather than pretending to run a content platform we do not run.

We respect copyright, and we respond to notices that comply with the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe material we host infringes a copyright you own or are authorised to enforce, write to marluneappsupport@gmail.com with the subject line "Copyright notice". To be valid, your notice must include all six of the following:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the owner of the exclusive right that you say has been infringed, or as a person authorised to act on that owner's behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If you are covering several works at one location, a representative list of them.
  3. Identification of the material you say is infringing, described well enough for us to find it, such as the exact web address, or where in the app it appears.
  4. How we can reach you: your name, your postal address, your telephone number and your email address.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner of the exclusive right or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

A notice that is missing one of these six is not a valid notice, and we may not be able to act on it. We will review a valid notice and, where it is justified, remove or disable the material and, if it belongs to an account, tell the account holder, who may reply to us in writing. Please be careful: under section 512(f) of that Act, a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing can be liable for damages, including legal fees. We may suspend or close the account of anyone who infringes repeatedly.

Third party services

Marlune runs on services other companies operate. The Privacy Policy describes them by category and says what each one receives. This clause is about what they mean for the agreement between you and us.

  • Which ones there are. An AI provider, which writes Juno's replies and the wording of your insights, and reads a lab document when you import one. Cloud hosting and database providers, which run our backend and hold your account. Apple, which runs the App Store and bills every purchase, together with a subscription management provider that tells us whether you are subscribed. Apple and Google as sign in providers, if you choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google. A push notification delivery provider, if you turn reminders on. This website also loads its two typefaces from Google Fonts. If you would like the current name of any of these companies, write to us and we will tell you.
  • Their terms apply to them. When you sign in with Apple or Google, or buy a subscription through the App Store, that company's own terms and privacy policy govern your relationship with it. We do not control those terms and we cannot change them for you.
  • What we are responsible for. We choose these providers, and we hold them to contract terms that require them to protect your data, to use it only to deliver Marlune to you, and never to train an AI model on it. We stay responsible to you for Marlune itself under these terms.
  • What we are not responsible for. We are not responsible for a third party service's own content, availability, security, pricing or conduct, and listing one here is not an endorsement of anything else it publishes. If one of them goes down and Marlune goes down with it, clause 24 applies.
  • Apple Health is different. It is part of your iPhone, not an outside company we send data to. Marlune only reads from it and never writes anything back, it stays off unless you switch it on, and you can disconnect it at any time. What Marlune does with what it reads is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Force majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing Marlune that is caused by something outside our reasonable control. That includes an outage or a service change at our AI provider, at our cloud hosting or database providers, at the service that delivers your push notifications, or in Apple's App Store and billing systems; a failure of the internet, of a network, or of the power supply; a cyberattack, including a denial of service attack; a change in the law, an act of a government or a regulator, or a platform policy change that stops us offering a feature; a natural disaster, fire, flood, extreme weather, epidemic or pandemic, war, terrorism or civil unrest; and a labour dispute we are not party to.

If one of these events happens, we will restore the service as soon as we reasonably can, and we will tell you what we know. Your data is not affected by this clause: it stays yours, and everything the Privacy Policy says about keeping it, exporting it and deleting it continues to apply. If an event like this stops the service for a long stretch, either of us may end this agreement. If we are the ones ending it, clause 12 applies, so you will have notice and time to export everything you have logged.

Time limit for bringing a claim

Any claim you bring relating to Marlune or to these terms must be started within one year of the date the claim arose. After that year it is permanently barred.

This does not apply where the law says otherwise. It does not shorten a limitation period that your local law does not permit to be shortened by agreement, it does not apply to a claim for death or personal injury caused by negligence or to a claim for fraud, and it does not affect a statutory right your local consumer law gives you. Some states and some countries do not allow a limitation period to be shortened at all, so this clause may not apply to you.

Export control

Marlune is operated from the United States and is subject to United States export control and sanctions law, including the Export Administration Regulations and the sanctions programmes administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Clause 2 already asks you to confirm the core of this. This clause sets it out in full.

By using Marlune you confirm that you are not located in, and are not a national or resident of, any country that is subject to a United States government embargo or that the United States government has designated as supporting terrorism. You confirm that you are not named on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties, including the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list, the Denied Persons list and the Entity list. You agree that you will not export, re export, or make Marlune available to anyone in breach of those laws, and that you will not use Marlune for any purpose those laws prohibit.

You must also comply with any third party terms that apply to your use of Marlune, including the App Store Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.

No reliance

You are agreeing to these terms on the basis of what they say, and not on the basis of anything else. Marketing copy on this website, the App Store listing and its screenshots, a review, an article, a reply from support, and anything Juno says are not promises, warranties or terms of this agreement, and you agree that you have not relied on any of them in deciding to use Marlune.

This matters most where health is concerned. Nothing Marlune shows you is a medical fact about you. As clause 3 says, Marlune does not diagnose, nothing it shows you is proof of cause, and you agree that you are not relying on it to make any medical decision. For that, rely on your clinician.

Nothing in this clause limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and nothing in it takes away a right your local consumer law gives you.

Severability

If any part of these terms is held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that part is treated as separate from the rest, and everything else stays in force. Where it is possible to do so, the part will be narrowed only as far as it needs to be to become enforceable, keeping as close as possible to what it was meant to do, rather than removed altogether.

Clause 20 sets its own rule for what happens if the class action waiver cannot be enforced, and for that paragraph that rule applies instead of this one.

Entire agreement

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Subscription details on the pricing page, are the whole agreement between you and Marlune about Marlune, and they replace anything said or written before them on the same subject. They also incorporate the App Store Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions, which are Apple's terms rather than ours.

If these terms and the Privacy Policy ever disagree about how your personal data is handled, the Privacy Policy governs. If these terms and the Subscription details ever disagree about price, period length or trial length, the Subscription details govern. Whatever the App Store shows you at the moment you confirm a purchase is what Apple will actually charge, so if that differs from either page, tell us and we will correct the page.

Headings are there to help you find things, and they do not affect meaning. If we do not enforce part of these terms straight away, we have not given it up, and we may still enforce it later. You may not transfer this agreement or your account to anyone else. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over Marlune, and if that ever happened your data would go only to a buyer bound by the same commitments, and we would tell you before it happened so you could export and delete first if you preferred.

Marlune is not a medical device Marlune is a wellness and education app. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If this is an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988 in the United States to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
